365 Project - February

Well I am still behind with my 'daily' everyday photos; however I am not giving up!  This is something that I desperately want to do & I am determined to NOT allow everyday life to overrun it.  I find that I snap a few pictures almost every day and many days I take 20+ pictures.

Here are a few of my latest pictures:

Love those birds and the SNOW!  Yes, we even camp in the snow around here and we cannot forget the Girl Scout cookies...my cat even LOVES the snow.  I never had a cat that is so attracted to snow, ice & water.  She must have been a fish in another life :0)

What better way to get excited for spring than with the new Creative Memories catalog?  As I'm sitting here typing this in 12 degree weather with wind chills into the single digits near zero.  BRRR!

I can also assure you that the box at your party will not look like this one!  I guess UPS also wanted to see what was in the box and couldn't wait for my 1st BOP.  So yes I had to open this one to verify the contents and their condition.

March 2013 Discontinuations

Wow, so many new things coming in February & March from Creative Memories.  You'll need to be sure to watch the web page & Facebook pages for all of the latest.  I can tell you that great things lie ahead.  Unfortunately, that means some discontinuations will occur in order to make room for the NEW items.  Please be sure to look over this list as it is quite lengthy.  I will not be stocking these items after February 28th; so if you want any, get them while you can.  Here is the complete list: March 2013 Discontinuations

365 Project for 2013

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I'm only two weeks behind with that one.  I have challenged myself to do a daily photo album this year, as if I don't have enough to scrap already, right?!?  I made it to day #4 before I missed a day.  Now I find myself in the dilemma of do I catch up & keep going or do I change my objective.  I have looked at how I take my photos and what the subject of my photos are, for the most part it is events for my children, remodeling project around the house, my cat, and anything in nature...animals, trees, insects, water, snow, sunrises and sunsets...basically anything I find interesting.  I have never done well with too much structure, while I like schedules, lists, and an itinerary for most things - my creative mind just can't do it.  I am two completely different people when it comes to my daily life & my scrapbooking/photography.

I will find a solution to my photography dilemma and I have promised myself I won't beat myself up over faltering so quickly.  With it being flu season and having 2 of the 4 family members down with it last week and my just recovering from a 2 month long battle with a virus following a major surgery...I'm letting this one slide :0)  I can still do 365 photos, but maybe adjust to it being my weekly favorites vs. daily photos; something along those thoughts.

I have also challenged myself to improving my photos by trying new techniques and possibly taking a photography class.  I'm still mulling that one over.  I just cannot justify the time it would take to do that right now.

Our family attended an AHL hockey game on Saturday and I took over 150 photos!  I am proud of myself as I managed to pare that down to 52 photos I wished to keep.  My son's A Capella choir sang the National Anthem before the game.

After George came off of the ice, you could tell he was glad it was over...this smile says it all.  While we were waiting for him to get up to our seats we were having a bit of fun with Mom & Dad.  Their seats were directly behind us on the 2nd level.

 Actually Dad and Eric were exhausted; the had spent the entire day (started at 7:30 am) working on our truck and only finished in time to get washed up & head to the game tonight.  So they both are permitted to look tired - they were!

This was the prep before the players came out to warm-up.  It was a bit ironic that the add on the Zamboni is the name of a friend who just moved to MN from PA and the gentleman driving looks very similar to him.  I can't wait to sent him a copy.

 I loved that we were only 7 rows off the ice, which allowed me to get some terrific photos.

This is the new logo for our local AHL team...I am not liking it.  Preferred the old one much better.

We all had a great time & I'll have many great pages for my 2013 album from this game and I seldom get photos of my parents or of us; so I am extremely pleased with my pared down 52 photos.  I'll solve my dilemma of a 365 project another day.  Just don't stop shooting those wonderful memories and putting them into albums.

Holiday Photo Ops

During this time of year we have many times that we can take photos of our children in their activities.  I am posting a few photos that are not the 'best' however; it allows me to tell the story even though the photos aren't great and some do not even have my children in them.  This is often the case as we attend school/church concerts, plays, and other activities during this holiday season.  Don't let that stop you from taking your camera and snaping a few photos anyhow.  You'll be amazed at how those out of focus, missing child photos bring on the memories in years to come.  The kids & you won't care that they aren't in the photo.  What they will remember is the fun and joy of the performance and that you were there to see them.  Those 'mishap' photos will warm their hearts.

 Like with these two photos I could only get a partial head shot of my son.  Even today after last night's concert he's giggling about the shots.

My daughter was not even visible to us from the audience at last evening's performance.  This was all we could see of her since she plays percussion and is always in the back...

Her gracious Band Director was telling the parents that he was going to assemble all of the students across the front of the stage for a photo op.  (No wonder I like him so much!)

Thanks to his forethought I was able to get these wonderful photos after the performance, yet on stage of my daughter.

Then once getting home both kids nicely posed for me in their concert duds since I was unable to get all of the shots I wanted of them at the concert (got lucky this year - HS and MS [6th grade] performed together) and so glad that they were cooperative.  Thanks kids!


I can't wait to see what sort of page layouts I get from these.  I do already know how the story will go and my children are laughing about it already as is my husband.  They'll never forget it though!

I was helping my daughter with an extra credit assignment and I decided to play around on my own some.  This is what I came up with...  (see link to the right).  You can create your own.  Great site for creating fun word art.

The Neverending Weekend...

My very hectic, very long weekend is finally done. We made it to all of our destinations on time & without breaking and low flying aircraft speed laws. My daughter enjoyed her two days of hunting season with Daddy, as did my son - he was successful & got a deer. (pics to come). My daughter had a great time at her Girl Scout outing, too. (pics to come, too). Now Daddy & I get to package venison burger and assist in assembling a science project for tomorrow since the kids are BEAT! :) Too much fresh air?

 Lizzie was not feeling well Friday evening; so Daddy let her sleep in Saturday morning and figured she could join him late morning or at lunch time.  Well, of course that's when he gets his deer!  This is what Lizzie woke up to...


On Sunday, I had to leave camp to accompany my daughter & her GS Troop on an outing since I am one of their leaders.  It was a rainy, foggy sort of day so the activity was welcomed with the lousy weather.

The girls toured the Fox Fire House.  They all seemed to enjoy different parts of the historic buildings and activities that were scheduled for them.  We have such a great group of girls, they all get along really well.


Back to the cabin to finish the weekend of what was planned for the kids to be able to hunt with Daddy.  Monday brought super warm weather for our area this time of year, along with major fog.

it was 62 degrees at 5:30 pm - unusually warm for this time of year.

George got his deer Monday evening right ahead of dusk.  Which always makes for a LONG evening.  When I arrived at the butcher shop to deliver my son's deer; hubby's was already processed and ready for me to pick-up.  Now that's service! 

My daughter & I then headed home for her to put the final touches on her science project.  Keep in mind it is already 9:00 pm...

It was a long evening, but all was accomplished without too many meltdowns.  I am anticipating hearing about her presentation at the end of the school day. I'll be on pins & needles all day.   

Well, it's now 2:00 am...Science project is finished, but the burger is still in the fridge. It'll need to keep until later this morning (Tuesday) - I need to catch a few hours rest before driving DD and her science project to school. Will post a photo if I remember to get one before it goes to school.

We all have those kind of days/weekends.  I'm glad that I don't have too many of them.  I would love to know how you juggle all of the daily stuff with the holiday stuff.
