12 x 12 Flip Out Pages

As promised I completed the instructions for the 12x12 flip-out pages.  I hope that I have made them easy to follow.  I would love some feedback on the instructions.  Here is a link to a PDF file so you won't have a bunch of JPG files to deal with organizing or printing.

Today's Raves

I want to thank everyone who is viewing my blog; I am very excited with the amount of traffic and with it being a fairly new blog.  I hope you all are finding my rants & raves humorous and all the other information helpful.  My goal is for this to be enjoyable for everyone, as well as allow me to vent when I need to.  I have just been through a whirlwind of a weekend and beginning to the week.  All has been good, just very full of activities.

My National Scrapbook Day was a success; I am energized and hope to keep that momentum going for me and my customers.  I love that they are excited to get started and some finished projects.  The gleam in their eyes and the excitement in their voices as they get ready to continue or move on to the next project is just wonderful.  I was even able to get quite a bit of my own pages completed.

There are some wonderful offers from Creative Memories that will end on May 31st. Check out the Mini Catalog for the offers now and those coming in June.  An addendum for the June Digital Sale - June 1-June 25

Our great sale on digital products is even bigger and better! Our offer of
20 percent off additional pages and lay-flat page upgrades has been
modified to include Hardcover StoryBooks. And we've boosted the
discount to 25 percent!

When you show page 21 in the May/June Mini Catalog to your party guests,
make sure to let them know the offer is now an amazing 25 percent savings
on Hardcover StoryBooks, additional pages and the lay-flat upgrade option.

You’ll see the correct amount listed on the Digital Center as well.
The sale runs June 1 – 25

Don't forget about all those Dad's & Grads; still time to get a digital gift for them. If you need ideas, please contact me for ideas. You can also check out the Project Center at www.creativememories.com for great ideas, too.

Keep taking those photos and preserving all those great moments.  I will have plenty to scrap as well...one band banquet, a concert, Memorial Day Parade, another band concert, scouts, 5th grade Graduation, all in the past week & the upcoming week!  I'm tired just thinking about it...

I am currently working on a set of directions with photos on how to create 12 x 12 flip out pages.  Maybe I'll give it a go at a video again...  WATCH FOR IT!

Tell Your Story

Great post by another blogger: Reaching Scrapbookers With and Without Children

This is a wonderfully written article. This was shared on one of my message boards from a fellow CMC.  Please don't think that scrapbooking is only for those who have children.  All our lives have an impact and we all have a story to tell.

Tell your story...

Yesterday is a perfect example:  We all got together for Mother's Day - now yes I have children, but this is something that could very easily apply to a childless person/couple, too.

4 Wheeling It!

You could very easily scrapbook any event...camping with friends or an organization.  A rafting trip, hiking, your quilts, knitting, crocheting, books you've read - whatever your interests may be.  I have been creating scrapbooks since I was a child - so I have many many albums that do not include my children.  If paper piecing and photographing is something you enjoy - don't let the absence of children stop you from creating your story!

How to trim page protectors

I just created a video demonstrating how to trim the true size page protectors down to fit the original sized pages. Since the original sized page protectors are no longer available there were quite a few consultants and customers on my message boards that were concerned with how to do this.  This is my first video so I apologize for the poor lighting, etc.  This is all a learning process for me.

The Little Things...

It was an extremely hectic weekend; spent at our cabin.  The DH & DS spent all day Saturday bringing in firewood off the mountain; my DD and I assisted with loading some of it once it was cut to length.  We are still in clean up mode from the logger who was in last year & didn't do as he promised; surprise, surprise.  We are in the process of opening back up the actual logging roads and trails that were on the property before the bad logger came in & left tree tops everywhere.  Nature is amazing as to how quickly the scared earth recovers.

I love going to the mountain because my children are experiencing a much slower & different way of life, even if it's only for a few days at a time.  They get to unplug from all of their electronic devices and TV shows.  They love to be outdoors on the various trails and see things like the super moon without all of the light pollution from the city.   I got a chance to get some photos of the super moon this past Saturday; my husband drove us up to the overlook at the top of the mountain.  Our resident bear left evidence that it was nearby so not much exploring took place this past weekend.  While making noise cutting the logs, it was OK, they'll tend to stay away.  However when viewing the moon at the overlook, got a whiff of the pungent smell of the bear.  Didn't care to meet him face to face so we cut our viewing short even though we were most likely fine as we were.

Sunday morning I was able to get some great pictures of the cutest little bird, too.  Through a more lengthy search than usual for me I came to learn that the bird is a hooded warbler.  They come to our area only during late spring and over the summer to breed.

This little guy flew into our picture window Sunday morning while we were having a late breakfast.  The entire family slept in from all of the heavy lifting the day before from hauling in firewood.

I went out the door to the deck to check on him...obviously he was still stunned from plowing into the window.  Just sat there and allowed me and both children to get within inches of him.

This was the closest I go to him, I didn't want to give the poor little guy a heart attack on top of his pounding headache :-)

This kids pulled out our bird identification books to find out which type of bird he was...even after looking in the book we weren't totally sure which he was, so when I got home I sent a photo to the Cornell Lab of Ornithology's FB page.  They were great!  I love their site.

My DH & DS did tell my daughter and I about the red fox they came across while cutting wood.  Apparently he came in to check out the noise.  Deer will also do this.  They come to see what all the noise is about.  I LOVE it; they are as curious about us as we are about them...

My DD and I did make a trip to the local Amish grocery store on Saturday morning.  This is always a fun trip because you'll never know what you'll find.  They buy over runs, over stocks, fire sales, etc.  You get the idea.  What I do know is that this little store saves me a fortune in groceries!  The kids love the refrigerated/freezer section of the store.  It quite literally is a converted tractor trailer.  Be sure you have your winter coat to enter even in the summer!  It's COLD.

I did feel a bit guilty as I was in the cabin working on Virtual NSD along with CM and CMGD on facebook when I was able to get online through my cell phone.  Not the best of connections to do what I wanted, however it was better than no connection :-)  When my husband & I purchased our little hide away; we made a deal to keep it with no phone, no cable TV, no Internet; so that it remained a place of relaxation for us and our family.  Too many of these past trips one of us has had to 'connect' to the real world for our jobs.

Enjoy the photos I was able to get from this past weekend in between work and participating in Creative Memories Virtual NSD.

NSD Celebration Event (reposted from April 27)

Join us online from April 27-May 5 to celebrate National Scrapbook Day, which was originally founded by Creative Memories in 1995.

There will be daily challenges, door prizes, speed scraps, freebies and more!

Stop by our Creative Memories Home Office or Go Digital Facebook Pages, starting April 27, for all of the fun.  Also watch Pinterest for links to the sketches of the day and also for posted photos from the challenges and speed scraps.  The goal is to provide you with lots of inspiration and to help you get your photos & projects completed.

Invite your friends - it's going to be great!

Day 1: Friday, April 27th

Challenge #1: Color Challenge

My Oldest Soccer Player

My oldest soccer player's page with MAW papers from 2009 - Wishes & Dreams.  The page layout is from the featured project that was published with those papers at the time - uses (3) 4x6 photos.  Wishful border punch was used along with the regular tearing tool.  Cardstock colors are cloud, espresso with dots, and beige with dots from the MAW papers.

My Littlest Soccer Player

my littlest soccer player's page.  This page was made with the old soccer additions and orange cardstock I used the cricut to cut the title and used stickers that came with the additions to enhance the page.  The orange jersey, cleats, and water bottle were Jolee's.  The soccer balls are brads that I had picked up over the years.

Day 2: Saturday, April 28th

Challenge #2:  Use Hearts

View on the Challenges Page - please leave remarks
To create this page I used SBC+ 3.0 and chose a PDP (pre-designed page) from the Reminisce Power Palette, I chose heart embellishments from the Vintage Embellishments Kit & the heart in the center of the flower was a freebie from years ago (CMGD).  The font used on the page is Annie and the color was selected to match from the dark bird on the page.

Day 3: Sunday April 29th

Challenge #3: Tag Maker

I did not enter this page since I had posted it previously for another challenge a while back, however it shows very nicely the use of tags.  It was created in SBC+ 3.0 with a pre-designed page from the Everyday Power Palette.  My daughter just loves these color combinations and loud designs.  The font used is Ales and Wenches, one of my favorite fonts.

Day 4: Monday, April 30th

Challenge #4: Cook It Up!

This is a page from my daughter's Brownie Troop's cookbook.  Each of he girls chose their favorite recipe and they compiled a cookbook of all their recipes.
